Exclusive Interview! Volume One--VTN
Finally, we have had a chance to coordinate our schedules and get that much-sought-after sit down with Brandon Collins, the uber-creator, writer, and producer in the VTN –verse. We talked with him about everything—VTN, Angel, Faith, Destiny, and many other things that helped or hindered his climb to this position.
Pass Pictures: Thanks for sitting down with us. You seem to be a busy man.
Brandon Collins: Seem to be? Yes, that’s what I would like it to seem like. Actually I just sit at home and drink tea with Giles all day.
PP: Really? So that’s how you got so many show insights!
BC: It’s one way. I won’t mention the others in case there are kids reading this right now. Hi kids! (laughs)
VTN—
PP: VTN (Virtual Television Network) was created a year or so ago as VTV. How do you feel about its progression?
BC: I think VTN has grown incredibly. I don’t think any of us thought when Emma (Hayden, VTN creator) created this monster exactly how large it would grow in terms of size and fan base. It’s really amazing.
PP: What role, if any, did you play in its development?
BC: Directly? None. This was totally Emma’s baby, as far as I know. She may have talked to Jenn (Stickwood, EOD creator) or Daniel (Pass, AS6 creator) about it, but back then I wasn’t really in the loop.
PP: Not in the loop? How do you mean?
BC: I was just a humble assistant writer back then. I wasn’t as involved as I am now.
PP: Recently Geocities deleted the home site for VTV, and Ms. Hayden rebounded with a new VTN, name changed, site kind of changed. How do you feel about it?
BC: I’m really excited. It was a really crappy thing that it got deleted in the first place because that was like the hub that linked all of us together. It was like a police man standing in the middle of traffic and directing all these wonderful people to each of our individual series and sites. And when that was gone, I think it dropped out the new viewers ratio.
PP: Now that it’s back up, what do you think will happen?
BC: I think VTN will just keep growing and growing. It’s like an unstoppable machine that keeps crushing everything in its path, but in a good way. Emma has now created a separate site just for news and interviews. Hint, hint Emma. Looking to get an interview from you soon! (laughs)
PP: And now you’re a part of that family in more ways than one!
BC: Yes, I am. Not only will my shows air their, but I’m also a Pitch Executive along with Jenn, in charge of sorting out shows that are pitched to VTN, and keeping tabs on shows that are in production.
PP: No wonder you’re so busy.
BC: I say that to myself sometimes.
