Exclusive Interview! Volume IV-- DESTINY & OTHER PROJECTS
DESTINY—
PP: Not only are you involved with your own series, but you’re also slated to help out with a couple others, including Destiny. We’ve already interviewed Chris Ulysses, Destiny’s creator, but tell us your feelings on the series.
BC: I think Destiny is a great idea. Chris really has put a lot of work behind it to make it great, and I think given a couple of seasons it will really be something to behold.
PP: Given a couple of seasons?
BC: Yea. I mean, it always takes one or two seasons for the show to get established. Take, for example, Buffy. The first season was great, yes, but the second was a lot better, and the third? Whoa! Look out! That’s what I mean. As you delve more into a story it gets better and better.
PP: How did you get involved with this series?
BC: Well, at first, I was just Chris’ advisor to VTN. His link to the inside. As a VTN Pitch Exec, it is my job, and Jenn’s, to keep tabs on shows that are currently being produced. So, basically he would send me updates, completed episodes, and whatever, for me to look at so I would know of his progress. I started giving him pointers, and my goal is to help someone as much as I can without rewriting their script for them.
PP: And you did that?
BC: Yes. I gave him pointers about various things. He asked me to help him find writers for his series, so we put out a couple of feelers and got no response. Truthfully, I knew what he was going through because I had been there myself. I’m there right now. So I signed on to write a couple of episodes and ease the workload.
PP: How is that working out?
BC: It’s going great. As he sends me episodes that he has completed I continue to work on my few. The series is really coming along nicely, and I can’t wait for it to premiere this fall.
OTHER PROJECTS—
PP: Do you have anything new coming along?
BC: Yes, actually. Along with the new season of Buffy, I’m also slated to help out Jenn with a new project she’s calling Toy Soldiers. No word on exactly when that will be ready, but I’m sure it’ll be positively great. Besides that Emma and I are working on a new idea for a series, or maybe a movie. I haven’t decided which way would be better. Maybe it could fit both. No title for that as of this point. Just the basic concept.
PP: You have quite a list of things coming up with your name involved!
BC: I do. Right now all that I have airing is Angel. But by the time this stuff premieres, I’ll have a number of different involvements. They might not all be as heavy as the series I’ve created, but I will be there in some form. Actually, I have an open invitation to join EOD (End Of Days) which I might take them up on sometime next season. I’m just too busy right now.
PP: That’s pretty understandable. With six projects that you’re working on, plus being an executive at VTN, anyone would be busy with that workload.
BC: Yea. If I didn’t have the Slayer superpowers that I do, I’m sure I would’ve crumbled a long time ago. (laughs) We all would have.
PP: Thanks for spending some time talking with us, and we can’t wait for all of the things you are involved in to hit the big or small screen.
BC: Yea, I can’t wait either. This was fun. Next time we’ll have to change locations. Maybe a Q & A session with some fans.
